About Joe Dawson

Joe Dawson Jr., ARDMS (OB-GYN), RVT, is an ultrasound educator and author. Registered vascular technologist, dedicated to helping others grow both professionally and personally.

A devoted husband and proud father, Joe’s journey from a turbulent childhood to a life of purpose is a testament to resilience, faith, and transformation. Overcoming early challenges, he built a career in healthcare—first as a phlebotomist and later as an ultrasound technologist, where he has served patients and students for over two decades.

Through his work in sonography education, Joe has helped aspiring ultrasound professionals simplify complex concepts and gain confidence as they prepare for ARDMS registries. His teaching focuses on making learning approachable, practical, and rooted in real-world experience.

Joe is the author of The Sonographer’s Bedside & Empathy Playbook, a practical guide created to help sonographers, students, and new graduates strengthen communication, compassion, and confidence at the bedside. Drawing from more than 25+ years of clinical experience, the book focuses on the human side of ultrasound helping sonographers navigate difficult conversations, anxious patients, challenging exams, and the everyday moments that shape patient care.

Today, Joe combines his clinical experience, educational tools, books, and personal journey to help ultrasound students and new graduates grow in knowledge, confidence, and compassion throughout their careers.
